Reprise Chair

Designed by Copenhagen-based Norm Architects for L.Ercolani, the Reprise Chair is a minimalistic design with Scandinavian simplicity, created as a modern spin on the classic Windsor. Like Ercol, the brand L.Ercolani was launched to celebrate, it conforms with the DNA of being well-crafted, comfortable, simple, functional, and beautiful, and its name calls back to its pattern and repetition. The smooth, flowing arch of its backrest creates a natural rhythm, a repeated “passage” like the reprise of a song. The designers first approached this collaboration by investigating the commonalities between traditional British and Danish design language. The designers then investigated how the two cultures responded to the same set of basic needs and channeled their similarities into its design process. By focusing on these details, they were able to create an attractive hybrid, designed to bridge cultures and generations with universal appeal. The collection combines the best of both traditions, sprinkled liberally with references to the American Mid-Century Modern movement. L.Ercolani designs furniture meant to be cherished for generations and the Reprise is no different. Ben Gaffney, L.Ercolani’s VP of the Americas and International Design Development says, “We have spent so much energy trying to be the experts in residential meets soft contract. We know that the office environment is being filled with residential-type pieces. We wanted this chair to feel like you are at home without it being a place where employees are going to nest, snuggle up, and fall asleep. It is really about function and how it can fit a human in all these different environments.” The clean, structural integrity of the chair offers an ideal perch for leisurely afternoon reading and meaningful conversations that last long into the evening.
