Douglas Fir is strong and versatile, with a light wood and straight grain while Aluminum is consistently durable yet lightweight compared to steel. The construction is executed seamlessly where these two materials meet, creating congruent layers in one unified statement of simplicity. Each material is selected for longevity and the ability to grow more beautiful with age and use. All components are able to be fully disassembled by material so they can either be recycled or biodegrade. By using natural materials and avoiding synthetics, Kalon achieves 100% biodegradability which allows all materials to flow back into the nutrient stream. Element is made in family-owned shops in the United States, supporting local economies, traditional trades and a diversity of craftsmanship. Intelligently and sustainably produced using a Batch Size One production model, the bed can be adapted and built to custom specifications.
