Description
Furnify developed the Moving Islands, a line of circular movable furniture, in collaboration with Makers of Sustainable Spaces (MOSS). Comprised of several modules, the product is capable of adopting infinite configurations to cater to multiple uses and spatial needs. MOSS meticulously curated the plant selection and Furnify implemented an environmentally responsible approach to the design, using repurposed surplus materials from the wood industry to build the product. Moreover, these circular interior pieces are easy to repair or replace in case of damage, allowing to extend its lifespan. Amsterdam-based care organisation Amsta was the first client to order the product. The Moving Islands were successfully implemented to revitalise the atrium of a nursing home designed in 1782 and transform it into an inviting and flexible space for residents, employees, and visitors. The modules are combined to create an indoor garden for the house guests or used to accommodate different levels of privacy within the main space. The product was designed with the ergonomic needs of elderly users in mind. Circular event venue Circa Amstedam was the second client to purchase the Moving Islands, bringing playful adaptability to the ground floor and demonstrating the versatility of the product in catering to a wide range of users and settings, showcasing its appeal across various markets. The Moving Islands exemplify our dedication to crafting functional, sustainable products that prioritise the wellbeing of the users as well as the environment.
