Coral Vase

Coral Vase is a 3d printed test tube flower vase designed to host dynamic, spatial and artistic floral arrangements. Consisting of eight individual stems which organically interconnect with each other, the shape of the vase mimics biological coral forms having one main spine and eight tentacles which add structural hierarchy and overall integrity to the vase. The vase is designed to have a minimal but elegant structural setting which provides unlimited opportunities for floral designers to create their artwork and displays. Each stem houses a glass tube which can be easily removed and replaced to maintain cleanliness within the floral arrangement without moving the whole vase from its original position. The test tubes allow flowers to be raised higher from the ground surface and provide more opulent, spatial, and fluid floral arrangements. Coral is suitable for public interior spaces which are highly visible and require substantial objects to fill in the space such as lobby areas or open display areas. The sculptural form, along with diverse floral arrangement schemes, can change the atmosphere of any interior with unique styles and fill the space up with life and refreshment. Coral Vase is manufactured using a combination of 3d printing and plaster casting. The exterior shell is 3d printed in several pieces using PLA thermoplastic and later assembled together to create a continuous surface. Plaster is cast inside the 3d printed shell as a filler to add more stability and weight to the vase. After the infill is cured, the vases are sent to a paint finish facility in order to add a highly glossy and protective finish for the final product. The 3d printing technology and finishing processes allow the vase forms to be manufactured and customized easily in house along with minimum finish processing.
