Caterpillar

Caterpillar is a prefabricated, pre-engineered multifamily and commercial structure with a design that can adapt or retrofit to architectural use. With custom dimensions (46’ W x 23’H x 192’L) and many side openings, it is one of the most unique and customized projects in the steel building industry. The eight-unit project is an open-span, column-free structure that allows for flexibility of use for residences and live/work spaces. The open floor plan creates endless possibilities for use than a traditional structure. The structure is also sustainable, made from recycled steel that uses 84% steel scrap and complies with Recycled Content and Regional Materials requirements outlined under the Materials and Resources key performance category of LEED® rating systems. Because the Quonset hut is a prefabricated building, it is simple to erect and requires a small crew to construct it. The building is composed of panels that are made to precise standards of accuracy for easy assembly and construction, with pre-punched holes and only one size nut and bolt for the entire building.
