Centura Tile

The existing building was stripped down to the bare walls. The mezzanines were removed and raised to allow for new corporate offices, showroom and warehouse on the ground floor with sales area, exercise gym, change and locker rooms on the second floor. The façade of the building became the main focus for its strong horizontal and vertical expression on the landscape and community it serves while functioning as a product centre. Both the exterior and interior of the building are highly articulated with great attention to detail to give an updated, dynamic corporate office showroom and warehouse, with outstanding presence on the urban fabric. Exterior wall materials were developed and utilized to maximize the use of the material engineering systems and panelization that allows walls to be developed with 1 x 3 metre panels that are only 3 mm thick. Also incorporated into the dynamic façade are the custom cut Apotex aluminum composite panels that cover the front of the building including the columns, fascia, and soffits with interspersed projections that add the three dimensional affect. The interior of the floors and walls throughout the showroom, washrooms panel displays and framework for the living wall are articulated in pattern designs that reflect the unlimited possibilities of the dynamic uses, patterns and textures of the tiles. Centura Tile?s new layout offers a greater integration of office, warehouse, sales, architectural showroom, staff and all shipping and receiving functions. The massing of the showroom, with its three-dimensional space of angled walls, curved ceilings, solids and voids along the south elevation, including full height glass and glazing on the south and east elevations, provides for a dynamic mix of solids and voids. With greater traffic on Lawrence Avenue, it's now easier for customers and architects to locate and take in this spectacular facility.
