Description
Tile design by Patrycja Domanska &Tanja Lightfoot. Material:Refined concrete composite 'Edgy' consists of a collection of 2 tiles, one being three dimensional, the other two and half dimensional. They give structure to smooth walls in the public and private sector. They can be applied in interior or exterior surfaces, covering walls partially or entirely. The three dimensional form is made up of asymmetrical surfaces 'folding' onto one plane to form a hexagonal base. By playing with concave and convex planes and using them to accentuate one another, it creates the effect of visually pulling the user towards itself. The side surfaces of the two and half dimensional form imitate the three dimensional one, giving it a playful character, despite the flat top surface. 'Edgy?s' asymmetry enables the designer to create a multitude of patterns, allowing flexibility and individuality, as well as a wide range of use: from decorative surfaces, guidance systems or even the integration into corporate identities. 'Edgy' was developed over years by reacting to the feedback of future clients like architects and design affine customers. The designers developed the form to be folded out of one piece of cardboard, as an acoustic and decorative element for the home. Depending on the space each home offers it was important to them to work within a modular system, so that the customer can be part of the design process by choosing colours and the final shape of the ?cloud?. Its shape has a timeless character, considering it took 7 years until the product was available on the market. This gives the designers as well as the company the acknowledgement for a well designed product that is unique but leaves a lot of freedom for whoever wants to apply.
