Achieving high thermal efficiency, continuous insulation, moisture management, wind- and fire-resistance, as well as interior and exterior aesthetics in one integrated structural masonry unit may seem impossible. Patent-pending InsulTech? combines a structural CMU, a molded insulation insert and a thin veneer face to create a fully pre-assembled insulated concrete masonry system. BASF Neopor® EPS molded insulation is affixed to grooves in the structural CMU and veneer, creating an assembled unit that delivers an R16.2 at 75°F. And, Neopor GPS increases in R-value. As the outside temperature drops, thermal resistance increases to achieve R16.8. InsulTech includes a full complement of masonry units to address all applications, maintaining a 100% thermally broken insulated masonry system. Architects can select either standard CMU or architectural CMU on the interior with the option of a completely different architectural face on the exterior. A variety of finish options, including many from the Oldcastle Trenwyth? line, assure architects can achieve the aesthetic they?re after. In addition, internal stainless steel metal anchors molded into EPS inserts provide a safety connection to the back wall for wind-load resistance and Fire Integrity?.
