Made-to-order, we glaze our catalog of patterns or custom collaborations with clients and designers onto bisque tile through an adapted screen printing process, then fire in our kiln. Minor variations and imperfections in glaze coat, coloration, and graphic edge quality that arise through this process introduce subtle variations over a field of tile. Translating sketches and images digitally into a film positive for screen creation and subsequent printing allows us to add halftone texture and further nuances to designs. We provide a few simple rules for orienting the tile and then the installer completes the pattern arrangement in the field—the pattern emerges in aggregate on site, an approach that extends participation and agency to the builder and end-user.
