The Dead City Pendant

Known for their refined architecture and warm modern interiors, the inter-disciplinary firm Mutuus Studio distinguishes themselves from traditional architectural practices by designing and fabricating Mutuus Made lighting, objects, and furnishings for their clients. Now, Mutuus Studio is making their collection of lighting available to the public for the first time. Created by artist and Mutuus partner Saul Becker, our signature micarta shade was developed by experimenting with leftover linen used to make his painting canvases combined with resin. Countless hours of experimentation and requests for installations were the catalyst to officially develop a lighting collection. The Dead City Pendant is handcrafted in-house using industrial and artisanal techniques to purposefully show evidence of the hand, creating a connection to the process of making. The lightweight shade produces a soft, ambient glow and displays a timeless elegance whether lit or turned off. The namesake Dead City Pendant and the Collection as a whole, explore the human relationship with nature and the built environment. It's a reference to the ruins of antiquity that still hold our fascination today.
