Description
Vallonn and Vallonn Opale is the first collaboration between 700-year-old Italian lighting brand Barovier&Toso and multidisciplinary designer, Luca Nichetto. The two new collections of suspension lamps, Vallonn and Vallonn Opale, exemplify Barovier&Tosos steady pursuit of combining old-world heritage and innovation. The mouth-blown, handcrafted nature of Venetian crystal specific to Murano and to the Barovier&Toso furnaces is legendary. To bring Nichetto's vision to fruition, production methods were retooled and a groundbreaking new technique was unearthedthe result of rigorous research and development. Composed of pure Venetian glass, the Vallonn collections are unique in their achievement. Recalling an iconic Venetian design that typically utilizes a metal cage to create and maintain its form, in a rare feat of engineering, these particular beauties are crafted without metal cages. The true essence of glassblowing is the crystallization of unprecedented geometric moments. Aptly named, Vallonnor hilly in Frenchreferences the soft curves sculpted by nature, and perfectly describes the organic contrast between the ribbing and hollows of the new collectionselements that accentuate their three-dimensional, sculptural forms. Nichetto is a native of Murano, where Barovier&Toso has been manufacturing since 1295, making it a particularly meaningful collaboration. Vallonn Opale is made with the jacketing technique, with an opaline, milky external effect that spreads light gently.
