Description
The 3D Weaving Bench is a first 3D printed shell-type bench installed in Korea. It is an irregular-shaped bench that has sufficient strength by mixing ABS material with carbon and secured durability as an outdoor facility through UV coating. Developed as part of 3D printing research at the cutting edge of the future industry, the product is designed to maximize the structural characteristics of 3D printing, which can produce huge irregular-shaped structure at once compared to other producing method. At the same time, we need to find a way to naturally introduce the layers caused by the use of laminated nozzles to the product. What we have noted is a parametric design in which numbers of layers are implemented in a natural irregular-shaped form. Based on the parametric model, a shelter wall blocking sunlight and back-reaching at the same time is added.A huge irregular-shaped facilities that are not easily accessible by conventional manufacturing methods, the 3D Weaving Bench, which stands in red on green ground, will serve as a prototype of 3D printing technology that will bring a variety of opportunities to designers in the future.
