EpicArc

EpicArc is a Mirage project by Andrea Boschetti The name of the project comes from the juxtaposition of the two names given to the first 2 elements which are generating many variations of other products: one is Epic, alias epicentres, and the other Arc, alias arches. Where is the innovation in a ceramic table? Where can we see the green and sustainable component of the 2 generative products Epic and Arc ? Mirage decided to associate the ceramic, more than to an assumption of visibility and the most banal perception (the table top), precisely to the design of the legs, leaving the task of showing the construction of the various supports designed through a transparent glass top. This is why it has been decided to develop two generative scenarios and concept paths: the first relating to the history of arches and their potential structural forms; the second to the geometry of shapes and the respective points of epicentre, balance and stability. From these two design perspectives come Epic and Arc, whose DNA embodies the concept of pure design, in which ceramics are not just a decorative component but above all a structural component of the object. Another important issue Mirage focused on was the sustainability. Beyond all marketing claims, the product world is still very far behind other sectors in terms of ecological transition. Too many chemicals, glues and materials that are hard to dispose of over time. Epic and Arc are entirely conceived with dry, mainly slot-in mounting, with materials that can all be disposed of individually, each one according to its own intrinsic features. The capsule of tables designed by Andrea Boschetti and created for Mirage is in fact a challenge in terms of research and innovation that Mirage has launched looking to the future.
