GRIP table-system Will it be possible to design a table-system, which; – Contains only very few different parts. – Will be easy for the manufacturer to produce in many variations. – Is easy for the customer to assemble and compose. – Can be assembled by customer without using tools. – Is constructed so it will be stabilized by gravity ? and locked by gravity only. – Makes it possible for customer to place legs where wanted ? longitude direction. – Is easy to prolong and make in infinite lengths. – Is easy to de-construct and pack away when a free floor is needed. – Will be able to make very long spans between legs. – Offers a huge degree of freedom for the user. – Has lots of free space underneath the tabletop to the benefit of the sitting person. – Possesses unique character and aesthetics. ??? To solve all those demands was my challenge. After lots of sketching, drawing, modelling, experiments and 5 years of design-process, this table-system was my best answer. The system consists of a long beam in extruded aluminium, a pair of legs in casted aluminium and different kinds of table-tops. The legs can be positioned on the beam, where wanted (in the very end or f.ex. one seat closer to centre), just by opening and moving the pair of legs. The gravity locks and stabilizes the construction, as soon as it stands on the floor. GRIP can be used in the company-canteen, as a meeting-table in the length you wish, as a work-bench or wherever a company, an institution or a private persons might need a flexible table-system with few legs and lots of freedom.
