LG ESS Home 8

LG ESS Home 8 is the next-generation, all-in-one energy storage system (ESS) from LG Electronics USA. Home 8 enables American homeowners to manage energy, provide backup power and reduce dependence on the electric grid. The ESS Home 8 can be integrated into a smart home environment with LG and non-LG home appliances, consumer electronics, and HVAC systems. The ESS Home 8 combines an advanced inverter and battery in a single unit that is floor-standing and wall-supported to provide an organized, streamlined installation. Its 7.5kW inverter/charger provides a capacity of up to 14.4kWh of usable on-demand energy and is stackable for up to 4 units which, in combination, allows up to 57.6kWh of usable energy. Additionally, and in the event of a prolonged outage, units depleted of energy will “wake” itself up every two hours after depletion seeking an energy source. If after 24 hours none is found, the unit will go into a deep sleep, although it can be “awakened” or “black started” by pressing a button on the side of the unit. When the ESS Home 8 is managed by LG’s ThinQ monitoring and control app, homeowners can delegate how, where and when the unit is used to maximize efficiency. While most monitoring of the ESS Home 8 is on the ThinQ app, if cell service or internet is down, a homeowner can simply look at the unit and view the connectivity status and the percentage of battery power remaining. The ESS Home 8 is a true all-in-one system (PCS + NMC Battery and smart energy box). Installers can commission the unit with no internet, app, or laptop in a fraction of the time compared to traditional systems.
